Youth Programs

POMS recognizes that the youths play an important role in the organization and therefore endeavors to develop programs of interest and relevance to them. Pastor Grantley Trotman, the current Youth Representative on POMS Executive Board, recently travelled to Guyana and met with several graduates of the scholarship program to plan and organize these efforts. The result was the creation of Poms Alumni and Beneficiaries Association (PABA) which will seek to fulfill this purpose. This year plans will be implemented to strengthen this relationship. As another demonstration of its commitment, POMS held a Youth Forum at the recent Annual Convention and Business Meeting in May 2010 and examined ways of promoting greater interaction between youths in Guyana and those overseas. Several ideas were examined including collaborative efforts between the groups to promote and market music, and organizing and conducting training programs for youths after they graduated from high school. Also, the youths’ participation in the Guyana Wesleyan Bible Youth camps and the ministerial program at the Guyana Wesleyan Bible College will also be encouraged.

The [Guyana] District Wesleyan Youth Ministries are on Facebook!  Check out their programs and share your thoughts as they strive to reach out to Wesleyan youths both inside and outside of Guyana. By all means, contribute to their programs as they endeavor to use their gifting to His honor and glory!

After extensive discussions, the executive committee proposed to the body to set up a scholarship program to provide a selected number of these students with annual scholarship. (Read More)
